What processes are in place to help support eligible youth to transition to CLBC services once they are 19?
On November 1, 2009, a youth transition protocol between nine government organizations, including CLBC, came into effect. The protocol ensures there is better coordination of family access to existing resources and supports, and that coordinated transition planning between ministries takes place with youth and their families. Transition planning helps to identify opportunities and experiences for youth with special needs during their school years to help them better prepare for life as an adult.
