What is quality of life?
Dr. Schalock discusses the concept of quality of life and provides an overview of the three factors, eight key domains, and how the concept was developed.
Begin with the end in mind
Dr. Schalock emphasizes the importance of beginning by identifying the outcomes that are desired. He suggests that, only then should we begin considering the processes and strategies that are needed to achieve those outcomes.
Aligning the system
Dr. Schalock talks about the need to align the various elements of the service delivery system (e.g. individual planning, service delivery, monitoring, and program evaluation) in order to achieve a truly integrated system that is responsive to the needs of individuals and families.
