Overview
Our goal is to develop and communicate CLBC policy so our objectives are met in the most effective manner. We also want to make sure the reasoning behind what we do is clear.

Policies allow staff to make sound decisions and make certain that supports, services and operations are managed consistently. They also ensure that individuals, families, service providers and members of the public are treated fairly. Policy helps individuals, families and the public better understand CLBC services and supports available and how they are managed locally.

The Community Living Authority Act, which was proclaimed July 1, 2005, provides the authority for CLBC policy.

Some policies are directed by legislation or other official government bodies such as the Comptroller-General. However, the majority of service delivery policies are the result of consultation and input from a number of sources, including individuals, their families and service providers.

All CLBC policy is reviewed and approved by the Chief Executive Officer or the CLBC Board of Directors before being included in a manual or posted on the website.

CLBC will always attempt to present policies in concise, non-technical statements and to communicate that policy to individuals, families, staff, service providers, community groups, and other interested members of the general public.
