Initial public meetings focused on increased need for education, housing

VERNON – Family members and stakeholders are interested in more education about planning for the future of their children with developmental disabilities, they told the Community Living BC (CLBC) North Okanagan Community Council. More than one hundred stakeholders met and spoke with council members at the community council’s first public meetings in Vernon, Revelstoke and Salmon Arm from June 18 to 21.

Project gives people with developmental disabilities freedom to choose their home

VANCOUVER – Individuals with developmental disabilities are exploring options other than traditional staffed residential resources, thanks to Community Living BC’s (CLBC) Residential Options Project. The project, which began this September, has given people across the province the opportunity to identify the residential support that works best for them – rather than placing them in a situation that is not ideal.
