Stories from CLBC Staff

“I enjoy working at CLBC, where I’ve had several opportunities to ‘spread my wings’. Starting as an Executive Assistant, I learned the organizational workings of the Crown corporation. After two years, I challenged my administrative skills and successfully applied to become a Contract and Procurement Administrator. I enrolled in several courses to learn more about contracting and procurement, which helped me understand CLBC’s processes.

Two years later, I sprang at another CLBC job opportunity to become the new Supervisor of Administrative Services. For three years, I developed my leadership skills and proudly led a team of administrative staff. In 2020, I joined the policy team as a Policy and Practice Analyst, where I discovered my enjoyment for working with multiple teams at CLBC to improve policies and processes to better support people with developmental disabilities. CLBC has fully supported my career advancement, providing excellent learning opportunities, work benefits, and flexible work schedules along the way.”

Deborah, Policy and Practice Analyst in Head Office (with CLBC since 2012)

“The perspectives I have gained from my time at CLBC has impacted my personal life and value system much more than what I would have thought, and this alone is something that I’m grateful for every day. Professionally, I have had the opportunity to work in almost half a dozen different positions on various teams within the organization as I grow in my career, which I’m so thankful for. It reminds me to always keep an open mind of where I can be an active contributor at CLBC.”
