What Will I Learn?
CLBC is a public organization and must comply with FOIPPA. FOIPPA stands for Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. FOIPPA is BC’s legislation that governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information by public bodies. This Act requires that any records and personal information held in the custody or control of the public body be protected by reasonable security measures.
The training includes six sections:
- Types of Information
- How to Collect Personal Information
- How to Store Personal Information
- How to Use and Share Personal Information
- How to Deal With Old Records
- How to Recognize and Report Information Incidents to CLBC
There will be activities throughout the training, so you can check your understanding. As well, there will be a short final assessment.
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Identify what is personal information
- Define privacy and know why personal information should be handled carefully
- Understand the importance of collecting, storing, using, sharing, and disposing of personal information
- Recognize information incidents and know how to report them.
