Privacy of information is the fundamental right of individuals to determine for themselves when, how, and to what extent their personal information is collected, used, and communicated to others.
We all try to protect the things we value most. We lock up our cars and our houses, and we deposit our money in bank accounts. Protecting personal information may be even more important than protecting possessions.
If we don’t protect the personal information of those people receiving our services, we could expose that person and/or their families to harm.
Know your organization’s privacy and confidentiality policies. When privacy and information security practices are followed, it fosters greater trust from the people in your care plus increased transparency and efficiency within your organization.
