CLBC is a public organization and must comply with FOIPPA. FOIPPA stands for Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. FOIPPA is BC’s legislation that governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information by public bodies. This Act requires that any records and personal information held in the custody or control of the public body be protected by reasonable security measures.
If the record’s context or content is about a CLBC-eligible individual receiving CLBC-contracted services, then that record is under the control of CLBC. CLBC records are subject to FOIPPA. CLBC records include those created by service providers.
