Activity 4: Storing and Disposing of Records

Read the following case study:

Dave ended his employment as an outreach worker with an agency. Over the years, Dave had collected information about the individuals he supported including: a small binder about goals and schedules, emails and files on his personal computer, and the contact information and text messages on his personal cell phone. Several months later, without backing up the records, Dave threw the binder contents into his paper recycling bin and gave his personal computer to a relative. There was no way of recovering the binder or computer contents, and no way of knowing if the personal information was secure.
