Record and Equipment Disposal
Only dispose or destroy records or equipment (old computers, cellphones, fax machines) that contained personal information if you have received CLBC approval and have received directions on the disposal from CLBC.
It is important to know the following:
- If the records are not eligible to be transferred to CLBC, the service provider must, at their expense, ensure the records are destroyed. Use a bonded and confidential company and follow secure procedures.
- Paper records do not go into recycling bins.
- Back up the contents of old equipment to the replacement equipment or to another storage device.
- Use a bonded and confidential company to destroy or remove hard drives.
