Invitation to Apply: BC Self Advocacy Groups Wanted! Help Shape CLBC’s 2026–2029 Strategic Plan

Community Living BC (CLBC) is inviting self advocacy groups to take a leadership role in shaping its next three-year Strategic Plan. This is a paid opportunity for groups led by and for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities to make sure their voices – and the voices of others supported by CLBC – are front and centre in the next CLBC Strategic Plan. (Note – CLBC Community Councils are being invited to gather feedback directly from families in a separate process).

CLBC is providing up to $25,000 in funding (up to $5,000 per CLBC region) for successful applicants to lead feedback sessions across B.C. between November 2025 and April 2026

What’s This All About?

CLBC wants to hear directly from the people we serve. We’re offering funding to self advocacy groups to host feedback sessions where people can share what matters most to them. The feedback gathered will help guide CLBC’s 2026–2029 Strategic Plan.

Why Should Your Group Apply?

  • Help shape CLBC’s future priorities
  • Lead and facilitate feedback sessions
  • Build leadership, organizing, and facilitation skills
  • Empower the voice of people eligible for CLBC

What CLBC Is Looking For:

We want to hear from self advocacy groups that:

  • Are led by and for people with developmental or intellectual disabilities
  • Can plan and host at least one in-person and one online feedback session
  • Are able to:
    • Promote and register people for sessions
    • Make sure people eligible for CLBC are invited to and participate in the sessions
    • Facilitate sessions using CLBC-provided questions
    • Take notes and send feedback to CLBC
    • Join a gathering in the spring 2026 to share what was learned

You’ll also need to:

  • Create a simple budget that includes paying self advocates and any support people.

CLBC will provide a facilitation toolkit, including:

  • Event planning checklist
  • Promotional materials
  • Facilitation guide and questions
  • Templates for collecting feedback
