On October 7, Clay Tree Society kicked off Community Living Month by sponsoring a Kickball Tournament for Vancouver Island service providers who support the adults CLBC serves. Over 200 people and six kickball teams from Victoria to Port Alberni attended. CLBC’s Central and Upper Island Community Council (CUICC) was also a sponsor and awarded their new recognition certificates to local businesses and individuals who foster inclusion and recognize the diverse abilities of the people CLBC serves.

The first recipients of the recognition certificates are Lynn Korsvall from Nanaimo Nissan, Anita Smith from Community Kitchens, Jillian Russel from FoodShare, and The Vault Café. CUICC will be awarding these recognition certificates year round to continue to help raise awareness of the importance of community inclusion for all people. A video of the event is available on Clay Tree’s YouTube site here.
