Announcing the new Chair of the CLBC Provincial Advisory Committee

Zafar Adeel has been appointed by the CLBC Board of Directors as the next Chair of the Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC).

Congratulations to Zafar Adeel, member of the Simon Fraser Community Council, who has been recently appointed by the CLBC Board of Directors as the next Chair of the Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC). In addition to being a parent of a young man who receives support from CLBC, Adeel is a professor at Simon Fraser University and a resource parent with the Family Support Institute.

The Community Living Authority Act requires CLBC’s Board of Directors to have an Advisory Committee. The Provincial Advisory Committee must be composed of members who receive community living supports or have a strong connection to people who do, and is made up of a single member from each CLBC Community Council. The Committee provides information and advice to the CLBC Board to assist with governance and decision making.

“Over the past three years, working on the Simon Fraser Community Council has been a rewarding experience, particularly being able to make a difference in the lives of the individuals and communities served by CLBC. My motivation for serving on the CLBC Community Council and PAC comes from my experiences as the father of my 23-year-old son with autism and intellectual disability. In helping him receive the appropriate supports, I realized there is a lot of opportunity to enhance the processes and systems to make them more responsive to people’s needs,” says Adeel.
