Beware of fraudulent text messages claiming to be CLBC

CLBC has been informed of a text phishing scam that falsely says CLBC is providing a one-time $100 payment. The text message asks people to register on a website link unrelated to CLBC. This is a scam and you should NOT click on the link, nor give or confirm any personal information.

CLBC is investigating this issue and has reported it to the appropriate authorities.

A limited number of members of the public have alerted us that they have received the text message. We are not presently aware of anyone who has been a victim of the scam.

Please beware of any unsolicited emails or texts from those saying they are with your bank, credit card or government. You can learn more about different types of frauds and scams on the RCMP website here and also find helpful information from the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre on protecting yourself here.
