CLBC celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

I invite everyone to join me in celebrating today’s United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is marked annually on December 3. The theme this year is “Inclusion Matters” and this is an idea that is at the forefront of CLBC’s ongoing work to help create good lives in welcoming, inclusive communities for the people we support.

To mark this special day, I’m proud to share with you the latest edition of CLBC’s newsletter Celebrate Diverse Abilities. For the editorial board of self advocates and family members who help produce the newsletter, it was important for this new edition to be published today. In it, the stories told by self advocates of sharing love and life, going to university, finding meaningful work and more, show why inclusion matters in all aspects of life.

I encourage you to take a moment and read these stories online here.

Thank you to all of the individuals who shared their stories, and to the family members, service providers, community groups, employers, teachers and many other British Columbians who make our communities stronger and more inclusive by celebrating the diverse abilities of all people.

Sincerely,

Seonag Macrae
CEO, CLBC
