On October 4, Mark Skelton, Chair of the Central and Upper Island Community Council (CUICC) and an active member of the self advocate community, presented to the Town of Ladysmith Council and to a full house who had come to be part of the proceedings. Mark attended their monthly meeting to present on the CUICC and the work they do.
Mark did an outstanding job, proudly introducing the CUICC, sharing information and clearly articulating a message about the importance of inclusion, including playing the No More Barriers video. After Mark’s presentation, Ladysmith Mayor Aaron Stone proclaimed Community Living Month in Ladysmith, clearly communicating the Town’s commitment to inclusion. The CUICC has joined other Community Councils across B.C. in requesting their local communities proclaim Community Living Month, making the request to eight municipalities in the Central and Upper Vancouver Island.
