The BC government has announced a new location for CLBC’s Provincial Assessment Centre, along with several other mental health care facilities currently located in Burnaby in aging buildings on what is known as the Willingdon lands.
CLBC’s Provincial Assessment Centre is a small, short-term assessment and stabilization service, with current capacity for about eight individuals. It is a highly valued short-stay resource for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues and behavioural health needs who need stability, reassessment and adjustment of supports to allow re-entry to home and community. To learn more about the dedicated team and its commitment to helping individuals live successfully in community, visit the PAC web site.
PAC will share a brand-new purpose-built building, expected to be ready in 2018/19, that will be integrated into a new mixed use community of market and supported housing, together with a health care district, to be located on the Riverview Lands in Coquitlam. The vision and plan for the new Riverview Lands community was developed after two years of public consultation. See the full government announcement here.
