Community Living BC (CLBC) is inviting applications for a board director position available from January 1, 2026.
The CLBC Board of Directors governs the overall way CLBC does its work. This includes responsibilities like approving CLBC’s strategic plan, service plan, and annual budget, and evaluating the impact of its services for adults with developmental disabilities.
Members of CLBC’s Board of Directors are appointed by the Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, Sheila Malcolmson. A Board member is appointed for up to two 3-year terms. Each Board member serves on a Board committee and attends 4 scheduled Board meetings, in addition to special meetings, strategic sessions, and the annual joint meeting with the Provincial Advisory Committee, Indigenous Advisory Committee, and Chairs of CLBC’s Community Councils. As well as reimbursement for travel expenses, Board members receive remuneration at rates established by Treasury Board.
Experience and Qualifications
This year, the Board is seeking applicants with experience in information technology and/or finance, executive management, the developmental disabilities sector, and/or the public sector. While previous experience as a board director is not required, it is important for people applying to understand the roles and responsibilities of a board member and the experience and skills required to take on a governance role. Information about serving on a public board can be found on the Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office (CABRO) website. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2025.
