People with developmental disabilities in British Columbia are disproportionately affected by the housing crisis, with many lacking housing options, living with aging family or facing homelessness and poverty.
Creating more opportunities for inclusive, affordable and accessible housing in every community is a collective responsibility. Rising to this challenge will take housing providers, service providers, developers, municipalities, CLBC, communities, individuals and families coming to the table together.
To share this message, and to build partnership and collaboration around housing, CLBC has created a new video called Let’s work together, which you can watch below.
The video was first presented by CLBC CEO Ross Chilton at the provincial Housing Central Conference in November. It is a call to action for organizations and individuals to talk to CLBC’s Housing Team about ways to get involved and work together.
CLBC sends our gratitude to Vernon Native Housing Society and Kane Bentsen for being partners in inclusive housing and collaborating with us on this video, and to the individuals featured for being brave and vulnerable in sharing their stories to help further this important message.
When people CLBC serves have the opportunity to live in housing they can afford where they are included and supported, they can thrive and contribute to the vibrancy of their homes and communities.
