Nidus is a non-profit charitable organization that provides education, assistance and support around personal planning. You can learn more about their work here.
Through grant funding from CLBC, Nidus is providing foundational information about legal concepts, as well as legal tools and procedures available to B.C. adults for planning, particularly Representation Agreements.
A Representation Agreement is a legal document used when planning for health and personal care matters. Representation Agreements authorize a person, or people, to assist an adult with decision making (sometimes called supported decision making) or to act on the adult’s behalf (sometimes called substitute decision making). You can learn more on the Nidus website here.
Nidus will be sharing information through educational webinars and videos, and also providing support to individuals, families, service providers and CLBC staff.
The first webinar session will be called “Representation Agreement Basics – the RA7”. This will focus on RA7s which are designed for adults whose mental capability to ‘understand’ is in question. This session is open to individuals, families, service providers and CLBC staff.
There are two upcoming dates scheduled for this session:
- Tuesday, June 14, 12:00pm to 1:30pm (PDT) – Click here to register
- Thursday, June 16, 7:00pm to 8:30pm (PDT) – Click here to register
Accessing support:
Nidus has resource people who can help individuals and families who are making an RA7.
To access support, email info@nidus.ca and provide a little background about your request for support. Nidus staff will make a referral to an appropriate resource person who can help by phone.
For anyone who needs assistance with email, someone else can send an email on their behalf.
Questions about making changes or using a Representation Agreement, as well as questions from service providers and CLBC staff, can be directed to info@nidus.ca.
