Celebrating Community Inclusion Month in B.C.

Community Living BC is pleased to join communities across B.C. in recognizing October as Community Inclusion Month. This month allows us to honor the dedication of individuals, families, self-advocates, and community members who tirelessly work towards creating more inclusive communities and opportunities for all British Columbians, especially those with developmental disabilities.

Community Inclusion Month is a chance to celebrate people with lived experience, highlight the progress we have made together, and recognize the ongoing work needed to ensure an inclusive future for all. When people with disabilities are fully included in all aspects of society, everyone benefits.

This year, the B.C. government’s proclamation focuses on equity, celebrating people with lived experience, and the ongoing efforts needed to ensure full participation and inclusion in all aspects of community life. You can read the government’s full Community Inclusion Month proclamation and visit CLBC’s Community Inclusion Month 2025 webpage, which will be updated throughout the month with community inclusion stories.

Recognizing the leadership of CLBC’s Community Councils

This month is an opportunity to highlight the ongoing leadership of CLBC’s 12 Community Councils working to promote culturally safe, accessible, and inclusive communities across BC Councils help connect individuals and their families to information and resources, as well as take action that leads to social change and inclusive communities for all.

Watch this video below to hear directly from Council members about the work they are doing to advance inclusion and connection in their community.
