Since 1991, the independent Advocate for Service Quality has supported people with developmental disabilities, their families and supporters to access quality services and supports.
Reporting directly to the Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, the Advocate listens to the experiences of individuals and families, works collaboratively with Community Living BC (CLBC), government and community agencies, and promotes continuous improvement across the service system.
By bringing forward the voices of the people who use services, the Advocate helps strengthen supports, improve outcomes and ensure services are responsive to the needs and goals of people with disabilities and their families. The Advocate can also act as a neutral third party to help resolve concerns, misunderstandings and service-related issues when they arise.
In a continuing spirit of transparency and supporting public understanding, CLBC is pleased to share this link to the 2025/26 Annual Report of the Office of the Advocate for Service Quality (OASQ).
CLBC recognizes and welcomes the independent, external accountability provided by the Advocate’s office. The Advocate’s commitment to working with CLBC and other agencies is important in identifying gaps and highlighting how understanding and collaboration can help supported individuals to be fully included in their communities.
