CLBC is proud to be part of the Global Leadership Exchange (GLE), a global network bringing together leaders in disability, mental health, and related sectors to share knowledge and advance inclusive practices.
The 2026 Leadership Exchange event is taking place in early June, with the theme of Ideas to action: inspiring leaders to mobilize collective solutions. Over 30 in-person Match events (immersive workshops) will be held across Canada will take place from June 1 to 2 ,ahead of the main Global Leadership Exchange Networking Meeting in Ottawa from June 3 to 5. Match events are designed to “match” people with shared interests and experiences, providing an opportunity for participants to connect, share perspectives, and build relationships ahead of the larger Global Leadership Exchange event in Ottawa. Participation is open to anyone interested in learning and connection, particularly those interested in disability, mental health and community wellbeing.
CLBC’s Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) will host a Match event titled Leading in Two Worlds – Indigenous Systems Change for Disability, Mental Health and Community Wellbeing at the Musqueam Cultural Centre in Vancouver. The IAC is proud to take part alongside CLBC leaders in welcoming Indigenous leaders, community partners, families, and allies. The event will highlight how CLBC is working toward reconciliation through its Indigenous Advisory Committee and partnerships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.
A second Match event will take place in White Rock, led by the Self Advocates of Semiahmoo and hosted by UNITI, a non-profit supporting people with developmental disabilities through community services, advocacy, and inclusive housing. This self-advocate-led event will highlight how people with lived experience are driving change in their communities through leadership, advocacy, and strong relationships with local decision-makers. Participants will connect with community leaders, explore inclusive initiatives, and share ideas for strengthening accessibility, housing, and inclusion.
Through its involvement in the Global Leadership Exchange, CLBC is excited to be part of international leaders coming together and to showcase its commitment to advancing reconciliation and supporting self advocate leadership across B.C.
