As we enter the time of the year when hazards and climate-related emergencies can happen, please check and update your emergency plans. Preparing now can make a big difference for yourself and your loved ones.
The hotter months have a higher risk of floods, wildfires and extreme heat. That’s why CLBC encourages everyone especially, the people and families we support, to take some simple steps to stay safe.
If you or a loved one lives in a staffed home or home share funded by CLBC, those homes must have an emergency plan. But it’s still important to be personally prepared. Making a plan, packing a kit, or staying informed can help you be ready. Please visit the PreparedBC.ca/EmergencyPlans and download the Home Preparedness Guide.
Prepare at home
- Make a plan with your family or support network. Decide how you’ll stay in touch if separated. Start with PreparedBC’s planning guide .
- Pack an emergency kit , including medications. Have a grab-and-go bag ready in case you need to leave quickly. Find out what you should include in your emergency kit and grab-and-go bag here.
